No man can be called friendless who has God and the companionship
of good books. ~Elizabeth Barrett Browning
September 2010
Fall is slowly arriving! We are blessed here at FBC to have so many new programs starting up this Wednesday--don't forget that the Library is open on Wednesdays from 5:15-6:15 p.m.
The Library has many new books for all interests - fiction, non-fiction, biographies, new junior fiction, etc. In addition to books, we have DVDs, CDs, books on cassette tape and CD, and Video cassettes.
Everyone is welcome at the First Baptist Library, and our volunteers can recommend or help you find a certain book, DVD, or whatever. If you are not in our computer, simply fill out a blue Library Patron card at the checkout desk and you're set to check out any item.
Here are highlights of some of the new items:
~Patsy Clairmon't autobiography, I Grew Up Little, is an interesting look into her not-so-normal childhood and how God helped her overcome that. More importanty, she writes of how God has used her past to help her understand and reach out to others in need. Patsy tells her story gracefully - and with humor.
~HOUSE by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker is a great suspense-mystery-thriller book by these two great authors. An exhausted couple stay at The Wayside Inn, but it's not what it seems. Once a tin can is tossed into the inn with rules only a madman could have written, the game is on. One game. Seven players. Three rules. Game ends at dawn.
~Randy Alcorn's book, DECEPTION, follows in the tradition of his Deadlne and Dominion. Randy is a respected Christian novelist who has won many book awards. This book features Ollie Chandler, homicide detective, trying to solve a mysterious murder.

Don't have time during the week to stop by-- we're open on Sunday's between services.
Sometimes our volunteers can't come in, so please call the church office at 828.693.3493 to be sure someone's here. We also welcome and need new volunteers! There are many ways to serve in the library, from checking for overdue books, straightening shelves, manning the check-out desk, reading to preschoolers, etc. You can help out as many or as few hours as you wish~we aim to please! Contact me at church or by e-mail at click here. In Him, Mary O'Brien, Librarian.
